We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Department Supervisor to lead our foam manufacturing facility in Phoenix, AZ. This key position involves managing daily operations within a designated department, ensuring high levels of productivity, safety, and adherence to company policies. The Department Supervisor is essential to cultivating a positive work environment, encouraging teamwork, and driving continuous operational improvement.
Full-Time | On-Site | Reports to Production Manager
Hours: Monday-Friday, 5AM-3PM
What You’ll Do:
Leadership & Strategy
- Oversee and guide team members, ensuring optimal workflow and productivity.
- Hold daily tailgate meetings to review safety standards and department objectives.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and ongoing improvement.
- Implement strategies to improve workflow and boost production efficiency.
Operational Oversight
- Ensure all employees are equipped with necessary PPE and comply with safety protocols and company policies.
- Promptly report equipment issues, product defects, or material shortages to management.
- Supervise Machine Operators to ensure adherence to established procedures.
- Effectively allocate tasks to minimize overtime and manage labor expenses.
- Prepare the department for adverse weather conditions and provide cross-departmental support as necessary.
People & Culture
- Track employee attendance and report any tardiness, absences, or extended breaks to upper management.
- Serve as a liaison between staff and management, addressing concerns and fostering clear communication.
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to employees, ensuring consistent skill development and performance enhancement.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections to identify and resolve potential issues proactively.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace within the department.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all regulatory, environmental, and safety standards are met.
- Report workplace accidents, incidents, or injuries immediately to senior management.
- Lead safety initiatives across the department, ensuring a hazard-free work environment.
What You Bring:
- At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory or lead role (preferred).
- Experience working in a physically demanding, labor-intensive environment.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. with ease.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Bilingual abilities (preferred).
- Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach.
